The Environment and Health Department was established in 2003 to develop and improve municipal performance in various environmental and health areas, and to utilize available resources such as machinery and human capacity. The main responsibilities include:
- Developing and implementing work programs and plans for solid and hazardous waste.
- Ensuring health monitoring for all areas through preventive and inspection campaigns.
- Protecting citizens’ health and safety by ensuring food safety and compliance with relevant laws and regulations.
- Reducing the spread of insects and rodents within the municipal boundaries.
- Controlling them using modern methods and techniques.
